PETITION FOR A PARDON

For most people who have been imprisoned for a long term the immense relief of being released from jail would be enough, but not for John.  A year after his release John Burrett is more determined than ever to clear his name.  To do whatever is necessary to right the miscarriage of justice that took place in the High Court in Wellington New Zealand back in July 2003.

As he writes in his book

"Being in prison is a bad experience even for the most hardened criminal who is fully conditioned to the sordid and squalid environment.   Being in prison for the first time, when you come from a good family with a long and happy marriage and from an excellent social background and, when you know in your heart of hearts that you are innocent, it is infinitely worse and totally impossible to adequately describe".

The next step and the only legal avenue now open to John is to Petition His Excellency the Honourable Anand Satyanamd the Governor General of New Zealand for a Pardon.

That Petition will be delivered to the Governor General within the next month.
